Agartala, 7th January 2026 : Puran Rajbari police station staff detained a 32-year-old man, identified as Soumen Shil this morning after recovering a pistol from his possession.
Police sources informed that officers were conducting routine checks in front of the station when they stopped a motorcycle. The rider, Shil, reportedly displayed suspicious behavior, prompting a body search. During the search, police discovered a pistol concealed at his waist.
Investigators stated that Shil was traveling by motorcycle from Gabtali towards Barpathar at the time of the incident. A case under the Arms Act is currently being processed.
Authorities are now questioning Shil to determine the origin of the recovered weapon and whether others are involved in the matter.
