CM Criticizes trade union Bandh, Cites Impact on Daily Wage Workers

Agartala, 11th February 2026:  Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha today expressed strong opposition to a proposed bandh announced by trade unions on February 12, emphasizing that such actions primarily harm ordinary citizens, particularly daily wage earners.

Speaking to the press, the Chief Minister highlighted that while trade unions often claim to champion workers’ rights, shutdowns like these end up disrupting the livelihoods of those who rely on daily income.

Dr. Saha stressed that the state is currently experiencing growth and development, and calls for unnecessary bandhs hinder progress while inconveniencing the public. “Such shutdowns do not serve the interests of the people; instead, they lead to economic setbacks and disruption of daily life,” he said.

Reaffirming his stance, the Chief Minister stated that the citizens of Tripura are unlikely to support such disruptive measures and reiterated his objection to the bandh call.
