Two Men Arrested at Mungiakami Railway Station with Nearly 10 kg of Marijuana

Agartala, 2nd March 2026: Tripura Police of Mungiakami police station have arrested two young men at the railway station with nearly 10 kilograms of marijuana, based on a tip-off. A case has been registered against them under the NDPS Act.

According to police sources, the two individuals were attempting to smuggle the marijuana by train, disguising themselves as passengers. Acting on specific intelligence, authorities intensified surveillance around the railway station from Monday morning. The two were apprehended on suspicion, and a search of their bags revealed the contraband cleverly concealed inside.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Madhu Kumar and Santosh Kumar, both residents of Bihar.

Mungiakami police station officer-in-charge, Sonesh Debbarma, stated that preliminary investigations indicate the seized marijuana was intended for transportation out of the state. Following the arrests, a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been filed against them.

Police are interrogating the accused and investigating whether others are involved in this smuggling network.
