Agartala, 8th March 2026: The 10th State Conference of the Tripura Tapashili Jati Samannay Samity concluded successfully, with key organizational decisions and future plans outlined at a press conference held today at Agartala Town Hall. The conference was addressed by the association’s re-elected General Secretary, Sudhan Das.
During the press briefing, Das shared that a new state committee has been formed following the two-day conference. Ratan Bhowmik has been reappointed as President, while a 22-member executive committee and a 159-member state committee were constituted, an increase from the previous 127 members.
Highlighting the organization’s expanding network, Das noted that there are now 661 primary committees, 163 regional committees, and 23 sub-division committees across all eight districts of Tripura. The conference saw participation from 617 delegates, including 68 women, with 28 delegates engaging in discussions on key issues.
Das raised concerns over rising attacks and economic exploitation of Dalits nationwide, emphasizing that marginalized communities continue to face systemic discrimination. He highlighted the lack of job opportunities and unemployment as pressing issues.
He further criticized the central government for reducing budget allocations and sub-plans for the welfare of scheduled tribes. Questioning the BJP administration’s employment policies, Das claimed that young job seekers were being deceived, while also addressing broader social challenges.
Education and basic service issues were also discussed during the conference. Delegates highlighted teacher shortages in many schools and limited educational opportunities for the scheduled communities. Water scarcity and inadequate drinking water facilities were cited as reasons behind recent local protests. Additionally, allegations of corruption and misappropriation in ADC areas were raised.
The conference adopted eight resolutions, including calls for the election of Left Front candidates in ADC polls, demands for conservation measures, and other key issues. A set of ten-point demands was also endorsed.
Currently, the association has 67,737 members, with plans to increase this number to 135,000 in the coming years. Das announced that the organization anticipates the fall of the “anti-people and oppressive” BJP government. The association plans to organize processions, public meetings, and deputation campaigns in the near future, with a major statewide movement scheduled for December this year.
