Agartala, 10th April 2026: The campaign for the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections will come to an end this evening, as authorities ramp up security measures to ensure peaceful polling. A total of 24 companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) have been sanctioned for deployment across the region.
Polling is scheduled to take place on April 12 in all 28 constituencies, while the counting of votes and announcement of results will be held on April 17.
This year’s elections are set to witness a four-cornered contest, with major political parties including the BJP, CPI(M), Congress, and Tipra Motha fielding candidates in every seat. The Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT) is also in the fray, intensifying the competition.
In the lead-up to the polls, political parties conducted extensive campaigns across the state through rallies, bike processions, door-to-door outreach, and street-corner meetings to connect with voters.
Tripura Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag Kumar has confirmed that comprehensive security arrangements are in place. Personnel from Tripura Police and Tripura State Rifles will be deployed at all polling stations, which have been categorized based on their vulnerability to ensure appropriate security coverage.
Initially, the state faced a shortage of central forces, but the Union Government has now approved the deployment of 24 CAPF companies. These include 12 companies from the Border Security Force (BSF), 10 from the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), and 2 from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
According to the DGP, four companies have already arrived, while the remaining forces are expected to reach soon. These units will be strategically deployed across all constituencies to maintain law and order and prevent any untoward incidents.
With heightened security and active participation from multiple political parties, the stage is set for a keenly contested election. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to ensuring a free, fair, and peaceful voting process throughout the TTAADC region.
