17th literary conference & Bengali New Year celebration at Unakoti Kalakshetra

Agartala, 7th May 2026:  The 17th Literary Conference and Bengali New Year celebration, organized by the International Mother Language Council, was held on the evening of May 04 last at the Unakoti Kalakshetra auditorium in Kailashahar subdivision. The event witnessed a vibrant gathering of poets, writers, artists, cultural activists, journalists, and literature enthusiasts, marking a significant occasion in Tripura’s cultural calendar.

The conference was graced by Chairperson Chapla Deb Roy of Kailashahar Municipal Council as the Chief Guest. Distinguished educationist Dr. Sushanta Sinha, cultural figure Asim Chakraborty, and renowned poet-publisher Govinda Dhar attended as Special Guests.

The program began with lamp lighting and chanting of hymns, followed by tributes to departed stalwarts of art and literature. Floral felicitations and warm receptions were extended to the guests and dignitaries.

Central General Secretary of the Council, eminent poet Bhakt Gopal Bhattacharya, delivered a keynote address outlining the organization’s mission and ongoing initiatives in promoting language, literature, and culture. The welcome speech and ceremonial duties were performed by Subhash Sutradhar, President of the Tripura State Committee.

The event was conducted by Bibhas Das, Central Publicity Secretary, along with State Committee leaders Leelabati Sinha, Dipshikha Bhattacharya, Chameli Sinha, and Kiran Kumar Sinha.

The conference featured poetry recitations, dramatic readings, Rabindra dance, Manipuri dance, and soulful Rabindra Sangeet, along with engaging discussions on language and literature. All participants and guests received commemorative souvenirs.

The program concluded with heartfelt thanks from Bhakt Gopal Bhattacharya, Subhash Sutradhar, and Leelabati Sinha, marking the successful completion of the 17th Literary Conference.
