Tripura Yuktibadi Bikash Mancha submits memorandum for science based curriculum

Agartala, 7th May 2026:   The Tripura Yuktibadi Bikash Mancha on today submitted a deputation to the Director of SCERT, demanding the removal of unscientific content from the school curriculum and the inclusion of science based education. The organization placed a three point charter of demands.

Mancha’s representative Saikat Kumar Roy highlighted that the recently published mathematics textbook carried images of Rahu and Ketu on its cover, which he described as unscientific and called for its immediate withdrawal. The delegation also urged authorities to eliminate all forms of non scientific material from the syllabus.

In addition, the Forum pressed for the reintroduction of Darwinism in the curriculum, stressing that rationalist and scientific perspectives are essential to nurture logical thinking and a modern outlook among students.

SCERT officials, after receiving the deputation, assured that the issues raised would be examined carefully.
