Agartala, 21st May 2026: A family that once stood firmly with the BJP during its difficult times has now shifted allegiance to the Tipra Motha party. Continuing the wave of new inductions inspired by Maharaja Pradyot Kishore Debbarma’s ideals, Ranjhu Majumdar — brother of a former BJP booth president and a prominent businessman from Manu Bazar — formally joined Tipra Motha today.
The induction ceremony took place at the residence of Holy Cross MDC in Santirbazar subdivision, where Majumdar was welcomed with the party flag by 26-Birchandra Kholsi MDC Kena Ram Reang, Tipra Motha’s South Zonal Joint Chairman Harendra Reang, leader Ajay Saha, and other party members.
Following the ceremony, Harendra Reang stated, “Responding to Maharaja Pradyot Kishore Debbarma’s call for ‘Thansa’ (unity), not only tribal but also non-tribal communities are increasingly joining Tipra Motha. With the inclusion of active figures like Ranjhu Majumdar, our movement grows stronger.”
Political observers note that in recent times, Santirbazar ADC areas have witnessed a steady trend of BJP and other party members switching to Tipra Motha. This surge in defections is seen as a growing concern for rival political parties.
