HM Shah lands in Tripura, Set to review border security, launch key tourism project tomorrow

Agartala, 4th June 2026:   Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Tripura on Thursday on a two-day official visit, drawing heightened security arrangements across the state. His visit comes after inaugurating the plenary session of the North Eastern Council (NEC) in Shillong, Meghalaya.

Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha welcomed the Home Minister at Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) Airport upon his arrival in Agartala.

As part of his itinerary, Shah will lay the foundation stone of the proposed Pushpabanta Palace Hotel at the historic Old Raj Bhavan premises on Friday. The ambitious project is expected to strengthen Tripura’s tourism sector and showcase the state’s rich heritage.

The Home Minister is also scheduled to chair a high-level security review meeting at the Border Security Force (BSF) Headquarters in Shalbagan. The meeting will be attended by Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha, Director General of Police Anurag Dhankar, Inspector General of BSF Tripura Frontier and other senior civil and security officials.

According to West Tripura District Magistrate Vishal Kumar, discussions during the meeting will focus on security preparedness, border management and other important administrative matters concerning the state.

In view of the Union Home Minister’s visit, security has been significantly intensified across Tripura, particularly in West Tripura district, with authorities ensuring foolproof arrangements for the smooth conduct of all official programmes.

Shah’s visit is being viewed as an important engagement aimed at strengthening governance, security coordination and developmental initiatives in the northeastern region.
