Agartala, 12th June 2026: In a major push to modernize rural healthcare, the State Health Department distributed smartphones to 151 healthcare workers at Ambassa Primary Hospital on Friday. The recipients included 143 ASHA workers and 8 facilitators.
The initiative aims to digitize grassroots medical tracking by allowing workers to upload field data directly to online portals.
“Almost all health department work is digital now,” said Dr. Sangeeta Reang, MOIC of the hospital. “ASHA workers manage critical national programs like immunizations, maternal care, and disease eradication. These phones will make online reporting swift and easy.”
Dr. Pratima Sutradhar, ASHA Nodal Officer, also attended the event. Officials believe this timely step will reduce paperwork for frontline workers while drastically improving healthcare efficiency in remote, rural areas.
