Dharmanagar administration holds flood preparedness mock drill

Date:

Agartala, 19th June 2026:   To check how ready the local teams are for natural disasters like floods, the Dharmanagar subdivision administration organized a special mock drill. With the monsoon season coming up, the main goal was to test how quickly and smoothly different government departments can work together if a flood hits the area.

The drill started around 11:00 AM at a water body right next to the Haflong Tea Garden Factory. Rescue teams put on a practical show, practicing how to save people stuck in flooded areas, give them basic first aid, and quickly move them to safety. To make everything run smoothly and feel like a real-life emergency, they used the Haflongchhara Higher Secondary School ground as their main base. The rescue teams, fire fighters, and emergency workers all ran their operations from there.

Officials mentioned that the biggest reason for this drill was to make sure different departments can team up without any confusion during a crisis. These exercises are really important to ensure that government teams can move fast, cut down on damage, and protect local lives and property when things get bad.

During the event, administrative officers closely watched every single step. They paid extra attention to how fast they could get boats into the water, move affected people to temporary camps, and hand out urgent relief supplies. The local administration later said that the lessons learned today will make them much stronger at handling future disasters.

Local peoples who came out to watch the drill highly praised the effort. A large crowd gathered near the Haflong Tea Garden factory to see the teams in action. The administration urged the public that besides watching these drills, the most important thing during a real flood is to stay calm, don’t panic, and listen to official instructions. Local people feel that this active step by the administration will bring peace of mind to everyone living in flood-prone areas.
