Six of family injured as auto-rickshaw & tipper truck collides at Garji in Udaipur

Agartala, 21st June 2026:   Six members of a family, including a four-year-old child, were injured after an auto-rickshaw collided with a tipper truck in the Garji area of Udaipur. One of the injured persons is reportedly in critical condition and undergoing special medical observation.

It is reported that, Suman Pal, a resident of Vivekananda Colony in Belonia, was travelling with his family members in his auto-rickshaw to visit the revered Matabari Temple for prayers. When the vehicle reached the National Highway stretch in the Garji area, a tipper truck approaching from the opposite direction allegedly lost control and crashed into the auto-rickshaw.

The impact of the collision left the auto-rickshaw badly damaged and trapped the passengers inside with serious injuries. Hearing the commotion, local residents rushed to the spot, rescued the injured family members and arranged for their immediate transportation to a nearby hospital.

The injured have been identified as Purabi Sarkar (48), Phatik Sarkar (49), Babul Pal (60), Shipra Pal (23), Suman Pal (36), and Sujoy Pal (4). Among them, Phatik Sarkar’s condition is stated to be critical, and doctors have kept him under close observation for advanced treatment.

The accident created panic in the area, with local residents expressing concern over road safety on the highway stretch. Police have started an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the accident and examine the circumstances leading to the collision.
