Pond poisoned at West Sonatala; Fish and ducks found dead

Agartala, 22nd June 2026:   A shocking act of sabotage has rocked West Sonatala under Khowai Police Station, where miscreants allegedly poured poison into a fish farmer’s pond under the cover of darkness. By morning, fish worth nearly Rs 30,000– Rs 40,000 were found floating lifeless, alongside ten domestic ducks that died after consuming the contaminated water.

The affected farmer, Shyamali Debnath, described the grim sight as she visited the pond at dawn. She suspects the attack was carried out by rivals harboring old enmity. The incident has devastated her family, stripping them of their primary livelihood.

Local residents expressed outrage, demanding immediate police action to identify and punish those responsible. Authorities have been informed, and villagers fear the attack was intended to disturb the area’s peace and financially cripple the family.
