Road woes spark anger at Ampi Nagar

Date:

Agartala, 27th June 2026:   Residents and vehicle drivers of Ampi Nagar have voiced strong dissatisfaction with the administration over the deplorable condition of the main road in front of Tripura Gramin Bank and the Ampi Nagar Community Health Centre (CHC) in Gomati district.

A stretch of about 150 metres has deteriorated into a hazardous zone, filled with heaps of mud and stagnant water due to the absence of a proper drainage system. After rainfall, the area resembles a pool, creating severe obstacles for pedestrians and vehicles alike. Locals describe the road as a “death trap,” particularly alarming given its location near a bank and hospital, where daily footfall is high.

Market vendors, students, and hospital patients are among the worst affected. Students are forced to wade through muddy water on their way to school, while patients and their families have criticized the authorities for ignoring their plight. With the monsoon season setting in, residents fear the situation will worsen, turning the stretch into an unbearable hazard.

The inhabitants of Ampi Nagar have demanded immediate intervention, urging the responsible administration to take swift action to resolve the crisis and provide relief to the suffering public.
