Agartala, 30th June 2026: Agartala Mayor Dipak Majumder on Tuesday inspected ongoing development works in the Minister Bari Road area of the city, accompanied by Corporator Ratna Dutta and officials of the Agartala Municipal Corporation.
The inspection comes amid large-scale construction of covered drains across various parts of the city, which has affected road conditions and traffic movement. Recently, several shops located along Minister Bari Road were relocated following notices issued by the municipal corporation.
Speaking to the media after the inspection, the mayor said the civic body is carrying out continuous development work aimed at easing traffic congestion and improving public convenience.
He stated that several old shops had been occupying government land in the area, where covered drains are now being constructed. Shop owners were asked to relocate their establishments and were assured that alternative arrangements would be made.
According to the mayor, the concerned shop owners have already shifted their businesses, and the inspection was conducted to review the progress of the project and related development activities.
