Agartala, 16th July 2026:  The All India Services (AIS) Association, Tripura Chapter, has criticized comments allegedly made by Leader of the Opposition Jitendra Chaudhury against South Tripura Superintendent of Police Mourya Krishna C, IPS, and has urged him to publicly withdraw the remarks and apologise.

In a joint statement issued by the IAS, IPS and IFS Associations, the members said the reported remarks directed at the serving IPS officer while he was carrying out official duties were inappropriate and inconsistent with the standards expected from a constitutional office-holder.

The associations stated that officers performing their responsibilities in accordance with the law deserve respect, regardless of political differences. They cautioned that personal attacks on public servants acting in good faith could weaken public confidence in institutions and adversely affect the morale of the civil services and the police.

The statement also noted that while elected representatives are fully entitled to question government policies and administrative decisions, such criticism should be expressed in a dignified manner without resorting to personal or derogatory remarks against individual officers.

Further, the AIS Association alleged that similar comments had been made by the Leader of the Opposition against other senior government officials in recent months. It maintained that repeated allegations or personal criticism without substantiated evidence undermine the credibility of democratic institutions and create an unhealthy environment for public servants.

Seeking corrective action, the associations called upon Jitendra Chaudhury to retract his remarks and issue an unconditional public apology. They also appealed to political leaders across party lines to maintain civility, mutual respect and institutional decorum while engaging in public discourse.

The joint statement was signed by Er. Rajesh Kumar Das on behalf of the IAS Association, Shri R. Daribing for the IPS Association and Shri S. Prabhu representing the IFS Association, all of the Tripura Chapter.
