Tripura journalists to represent state at ECI’s All India Media Conference in New Delhi

Agartala, 16th July 2026:  A nine-member delegation of journalists from Tripura will participate in the All India Media Conference 2026, being organized by the Election Commission of India (ECI) on July 17 at the India International Institute of Democracy and Election Management (IIIDEM), Sector-13, Dwarka, New Delhi.

The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Tripura, has nominated media representatives from various newspapers, television channels and news agencies to attend the prestigious national-level conference aimed at strengthening the role of the media in the electoral process.

The journalists representing Tripura are: Pranab Sarkar, Editor, Headlines Tripura; Anal Roy Chowdhury, Editor, Pratibadi Kalam; Sujit De, Journalist, Dainik Sangbad; Dr. Biswendu Bhattacharjee, Principal Correspondent, UNI; Abhijit Ghosh, Journalist, Janatar Mashal; Abhishek Dey, Executive Editor, Syandan Patrika; Abhijit Nath, Journalist, Tripura Observer; Achintya Bhuiya, Editor, Times 24; and Ranjit Debbarma, Editor, Chini Khorang

According to the conference schedule, participants will report at 9 AM, followed by registration and an inaugural session. The programme will feature presentations by senior Election Commission officials on topics such as “Connecting Stakeholders, Strengthening Democracy: The Role of Media in Elections,” the ECINET digital platform, constitutional and legal provisions governing elections, and the preparation of electoral rolls, polling and counting procedures.

The conference will also include practical demonstrations of the electoral process, interactive group sessions, and a parallel quiz designed to enhance participants’ understanding of election management.

In the afternoon, the journalists will interact with the Election Commissioners during a special address and an extensive question-and-answer session. The day-long programme will conclude with a vote of thanks, followed by a gala dinner.

The conference is expected to provide media professionals from across the country with a deeper understanding of India’s electoral system, the increasing use of technology in election management, and the media’s responsibility in ensuring transparent, informed and democratic electoral processes. The participation of the Tripura delegation reflects the state’s active engagement in national-level initiatives to promote informed and responsible election reporting.
