Father-son attacked with rods at Anandabazar, hospitalized in Dharmanagar

Agartala, 21st July 2026;   A violent clash in the Anandabazar area under Dharmanagar subdivision of North Tripura left a father and son critically injured last night. The victims, identified as Amal Nath (33) and his father Binod Nath (60), sustained severe injuries after being allegedly attacked with iron rods by two local residents. Both were rushed to Dharmanagar District Hospital in a bloodied condition.

According to fire service personnel, the injured duo hails from Ward No. 1 of Rajnagar Lakshmipur. Amal Nath was first spotted lying on the road near the Anandabazar market shed, bleeding profusely. Locals immediately alerted the fire service, whose team rescued the victims and brought them to the hospital’s emergency unit around 10 p.m. Witnesses informed them that the assault stemmed from a quarrel between two groups in the market. The accused have been named as Satyajit Debbarma (30) and his father Binoy Debbarma (60), who allegedly carried out the attack.

Hospital sources confirmed that Amal Nath suffered a deep head wound with heavy bleeding, requiring stitches and urgent diagnostic tests including a CT scan. His father Binond Nath also bore injuries to the head and ear. Doctors stated that both remain under close observation.

Police have launched a detailed investigation to determine the exact cause of the clash and to bring the perpetrators to justice.
