Young advocate killed in road mishap in North Tripura

Agartala, 21st July 2026;   A tragic road accident in North Tripura claimed the life of a young advocate on Tuesday, leaving the legal fraternity and his family in deep shock.

The deceased, Bishwajit Debbarma (32), son of Binod Debbarma and a resident of Nepal Tilla, was practising at the Kailashahar Court. According to preliminary reports, he was returning home from Kailashahar on his motorcycle when it collided head-on with a Bolero vehicle in the Dharchai area, leaving him critically injured.

Following the accident, he was taken to Kumarghat Hospital for immediate treatment before being referred to Kailashahar Hospital. As his condition worsened, family members arranged to shift him to Silchar for advanced medical care. However, while passing through the Anandabazar area under Dharmanagar subdivision, they noticed that he had stopped breathing and rushed him to Dharmanagar District Hospital. Doctors examined him and declared him dead on arrival.

The news of his untimely demise drew colleagues from the Kailashahar Bar Association, relatives, and well-wishers to the hospital. Local MLA Pauldangshu also visited the hospital after learning of the incident but refrained from commenting.

Dharmanagar Police have initiated an investigation into the accident. The body will be handed over to the family after a post-mortem examination. The tragic death of the young lawyer has cast a pall of gloom over the legal community and the entire region.
