Tripura Tribal Welfare Minister Meets Jual Oram Over Six New EMRS

Agartala, 8th August 2026 :  Tripura Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma met Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram and thanked the Ministry of Tribal Affairs for approving the operationalisation of six new Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) in the state.

During the meeting, Debbarma highlighted the importance of the Ministry’s support in strengthening residential education facilities for tribal students across Tripura. He said the operationalisation of the six institutions would significantly expand access to quality education in tribal-dominated areas and further strengthen the state’s EMRS network.

Debbarma described the meeting with the Union Minister as a privilege and expressed appreciation for the Centre’s continued support for tribal education and welfare initiatives in Tripura.

“The approval and support extended by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs for the smooth functioning of these institutions marks an important step towards strengthening educational infrastructure and expanding access to quality education through the EMRS network in the state,” Debbarma said.The six new schools are expected to provide tribal students with access to residential education and modern learning facilities, contributing to the government’s efforts to improve educational opportunities in remote and tribal areas of the state.

Debbarma was accompanied by Tapash Ranjan Bhowmik, Executive Engineer of the Tripura Tribal Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society (TTWREIS), and Madan Gopal Modak, Deputy Executive Officer of the Tripura Housing Board, during the meeting.
