Agartala, March 15: Sushanta Chowdhury, MLA of Majlishpur assembly constituency, who is also the cabinet minister looking after Transport, Tourism, and Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs departments arrived at Ranirbazar Vidyamandir Higher Secondary School and Birendra Nagar Higher Secondary School in Jirania inquired about the examination centres, interacted with guardians and offered them cold water.
Taking this to social media handle, Chowdhury wrote “Today is Wednesday and TBSE conducted this year’s first Higher Secondary examination. Students appearing for board examinations are going through last minute preparations in front of Ranirbazar Vidyamandir Higher Secondary School and Birendra Nagar Higher Secondary School. Standing on the streets, they are turning the pages for the last time with bated breath. At the end, they bowed to the mother’s feet and rushed to the examination hall. The mothers smiled to their sons and daughters. Today was the English subject exam of higher secondary students. There was a crowd of parents outside the gate. One by one, the students are entering the school. As per the schedule, the question paper will be sealed after exactly five minutes and after that the question paper will be distributed.”
Chowdhury, MLA of Majlishpur assembly constituency and cabinet minister suddenly appeared outside the examination hall. He inquired whether the examinees were facing any problem. He then spoke to the parents. He gave cold drinks to the mothers of the anxiously waiting students outside the examination hall as a courtesy to quench their thirst. How is the exam going? He visited the school in his area in the middle of the English examination of the higher secondary school. However, he did not go inside the school building, but followed the rules and inquired about the examination from outside.
In an open conversation with the minister, one of the parents of the students said “The examination is not only for the girl, but also for the mother. There is a little tension. It goes down well. The mother of an examinee told the minister, I have taken leave from the office on the examination days. The tension is getting a little bit.”
Chowdhury made a wide public relations and made temporary seating arrangements for the parents who were waiting anxiously outside the examination hall on his own initiative. Apart from inquiring about the examination, he also checked whether the examinees were facing any difficulties. He said, “We always want to work alongside the people, because the whole time of the examination, the candidates along with their parents are staying outside the examination centre. Seeing the smile on the children’s faces at the end of the exam on this day, all the worries of the parents disappeared.”
