Seven Tripura Cases Settled at Supreme Court Special Lok Adalat

Agartala, 23rd August 2026 : Seven cases from Tripura were settled at the Special Lok Adalat organised by the Supreme Court on Sunday as part of a three-day initiative aimed at expediting the disposal of pending cases from different states.

According to Tripura State Legal Services Authority (TSLSA) Member Secretary Pratim Debbarma, a total of 181 cases from Tripura were listed for hearing before a four-judge bench headed by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant. Of these, seven cases related to land acquisition (LA) matters involving ONGC were successfully settled.

The proceedings were conducted through video conferencing, with the parties appearing before the court from the District and Sessions Court premises in Agartala.

Debbarma said Advocate Joy Kishan Saha represented the petitioners from Tripura before the Supreme Court, while Advocate Saurav Kumar Lal represented ONGC in the seven cases that were disposed of.

During the proceedings at the Agartala court complex, TSLSA Deputy Secretary Rajarshi Chakraborty, West District Legal Services Authority District Secretary Ramanuj Bhattacharjee, Judicial Officer Sauptik Ghosh and other officials were present.

The Supreme Court had organised the Special Lok Adalat from August 21 to August 23 to facilitate the speedy and amicable settlement of pending cases from various states. The initiative aimed to provide litigants with an accessible mechanism for resolving cases and reducing the burden of prolonged litigation.
