Agartala, 2nd September 2026 :  The Tripura Rural Economic Growth & Service Delivery Project (TRESP), a World Bank-funded initiative under the Tribal Welfare Department, has made notable progress in strengthening the skills of government officials and field-level functionaries through training programmes conducted by the State Institute of Public Administration & Rural Development (SIPARD).

As of August 31, 2026, 119 batches involving 2,368 participants have completed TRESP’s Core Competency Training programme. During the current financial year, 23 batches have been conducted against a target of 58, training 525 participants in areas including financial management, PFMS, e-governance, e-procurement, project management, leadership and advanced Microsoft Office.

In August alone, six training programmes were organised, with 119 participants successfully completing the sessions.

TRESP has also intensified training on Village Development Plans (VDPs) to promote participatory and integrated planning at the grassroots level. During August, 23 VDP training batches covered 592 participants. The cumulative achievement under VDP training stands at 77 batches and 1,912 participants, including Phase-I, Phase-II and Training of Trainers programmes.

The twin initiatives are aimed at improving professional and digital capabilities while strengthening village-level planning, community participation and evidence-based development. Officials said the continued capacity-building efforts are expected to improve implementation and the quality of development interventions across TRESP project areas.
