12-Foot Python Rescued from Paddy Field in Rajnagar

Agartala, 18th September 2026 :  Panic and excitement gripped the Jalpather area under the Rajnagar Assembly constituency after a large python, estimated to be around 10 to 12 feet long, was spotted in a paddy field on Friday morning. Forest department personnel later rescued the snake and released it in a safe habitat.

According to local sources, resident Bikram Das was working in his paddy field and applying agricultural medicine when he suddenly noticed the snake beneath his feet. Shocked by the unexpected encounter, he immediately moved away and alerted others.

News of the large python quickly spread, drawing a crowd of curious residents to the field. While some people were frightened by the sight of the huge snake, others gathered nearby to watch the rescue operation.

Following the information, officials of the wildlife conservation wing associated with Trishna Wildlife Sanctuary were alerted. A team of forest department personnel, led by forest officer Sukanta Sarkar, reached the spot and carefully conducted the rescue operation.

The python, measuring approximately 10 to 12 feet in length, was safely removed from the paddy field. It was subsequently released into a safe natural habitat at Bison National Park, according to forest department sources.

The rescue of the large python from the agricultural field created considerable excitement among residents of the Rajnagar area.
