Food department conducts raid at market

Agartala, 26th May 2023: Expired food is rampant in the market. Finally, the food department was has carried out a raid after they received of complaint of selling expired food to customers with high charges in various markets. In that context, a raid was conducted on the orders of the administration of Sadar Sub-Division in Durga Chaumuhani Bazar on Friday.

Officials of Food Department including DCM Subarna Murasingh were present in the raid. DCM Subarna Mura Singh said that he has launched an operation today after receiving complaints of overcharging from buyers. During the campaign, the price, weight, quantity and expiration date of food items are checked on this day. DCM said that if expired food items are found, they are being confiscated. Also, legal action will be taken next time.
