Agartala: June 04. Former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar today said that political adversity and economic crisis have placed the auto workers in a difficult situation.

During a blood donation camp organized at the CITU State Office on the occasion of the Foundation Day of Tripura Auto Rickshaw Workers Union, Manik Sarkar, who is also member of the Police Bureau, addressed the media.

He acknowledged that following the election, workers faced obstacles in taking to the streets due to political terrorism.

Sarkar said that despite facing various adversities, the auto workers demonstrated their sense of responsibility towards society by participating in the blood donation camp. This trend would continue. Concerned about the workers’ economic condition, he highlighted the significant decrease in their income. Despite this situation, he commended their participation in the blood donation camp as a responsible act towards the people. He expressed his congratulations and hoped that they would continue this trend in the future.

Manik Sarkar also praised the Chief Minister, Dr. Manik Saha, for his commendable steps during the blood donation camp.

He emphasized the importance of the government’s continued support for such initiatives, as it would contribute to the reduction of violence and hatred. Additionally, addressing the train accident in Odisha that claimed the lives of approximately 288 people, Manik Sarkar demanded that the cause of the accident be thoroughly investigated. He emphasized that it is the government’s responsibility to ensure railway security measures. Rather than placing blame at the moment, the government should focus on addressing these issues and taking preventive measures to avoid similar accidents in the future. Manik Sarkar expressed deep respect for the memory of those who lost their lives in the incident and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.

The blood donation camp was attended by other prominent figures, including former minister Manik Dey, former MP Shankar Prasad Dutta, and several leaders who joined Manik Sarkar in encouraging blood donors.
