Agartala, June 5: The Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Minister, Sushanta Chowdhury, announced today that the state government is undertaking the construction of food warehouses at various locations in order to bolster the public distribution system and increase the food stock throughout the state.

Speaking at a program, Minister Chowdhury emphasized the government’s commitment to promoting the development of tribal areas, aiming to streamline and expedite progress in these regions.

“Our state government is diligently constructing food warehouses at strategic sites to fortify the public distribution system and enhance the food reserves across the state. In line with this objective, we are pleased to inaugurate a newly built food warehouse with a capacity of 500 metric tons in Srinagar, Sabroom Sub-division, under the supervision of the Department of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs. This development will benefit the entire local populace in numerous ways,” stated the minister.

By stockpiling rice and other food grains in this warehouse, the government will be able to efficiently distribute them to different areas as per the demand, maintaining a timely supply.

“This new food warehouse will play a pivotal role in augmenting the stock of food grains in the entire Sabroom division,” emphasized the minister.

The inauguration ceremony witnessed the presence of esteemed guests, including MLA Mylaphru Mog, Former MLA Shankar Roy, Chairperson of Poang Bari Panchayat Samiti, Mani Bala Vaidya (Datta), South Tripura Zilla Parishad Member Shankar Bhowmik, District Magistrate of South Tripura District, and Additional Director of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Animesh Debbarma, among others.
