Agartala: July 31. Pradesh Congress spokesperson Prabir Chakraborty today accused the state government of depriving unemployed state of job opportunities. The allegations stem from the government’s purported failure to implement the cabinet decision mandating the possession of the PRTC (Permanent Resident Tripura Certificate) for all state government jobs.

“The controversy arose when it was observed that despite the mandatory requirement of PRTC for engineering roles in the Public Works Department (PWD), the recruitment process for positions at state government dental colleges and entities like TSECL was carried out without enforcing the PRTC mandate. This discrepancy has raised concerns among local job seekers, as it allegedly allows non-state residents to compete for the jobs meant for Tripura’s youth”, he said.

Chakraborty denounced the government’s actions, labeling them as “absolutely reprehensible.”

He accused the government of disregarding the decision of the assembly and implementing a selective application of the PRTC rule, which has sparked protests against what they call “Tughlaq rule.”

Furthermore, the Congress leader also voiced complaints regarding the absence of a system to conduct examinations for students in Bengali language within the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), adding to the list of grievances.

District Congress president Tanmoy Roy and Congress leader Partha Acharya joined the press conference to express their solidarity with the protest and highlight their concerns about the government’s decisions.
