Arunachal Governor greets people on Chindang Festival

Date:

Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt General (Retd) KT Parnaik on Saturday conveyed his warm greetings to the people of the State on the festive occasion of Chindang, one

of the major festivals of the Sajolang (Miji) community of West Kameng district.

He expressed hope that the festivity will usher in good harvest, prosperity and happiness for all.

In his message, the Governor said, “indigenous festivals have always fostered a deep connection with nature. During these celebrations, prayers and rituals are dedicated to the mountains, rivers, sun, and moon, seeking their blessings for humanity’s well-being and bountiful harvests.”

“These communities also pray to ward off evil spirits, safeguarding their villages and the animals, vital to their livelihood. This preserves the precious gifts of nature. I hope that our indigenous communities persist in their time-honoured tradition of preserving our environment, benefiting both themselves and future generations. Festivals like Chindang serve as vital platforms for the transmission of these rich cultural practices,” he said.

“On this joyous occasion, I join my Sajolang brethren in offering prayers to Almighty for the welfare of mankind,” the Governor said in his message.
