AMC faces criticism for neglecting post-idol immersion clean up at Dashamighat

Date:

BY TC News Desk

Agartala, October 31: The condition of the Howrah river at Dashamighat, following the conclusion of Durga Puja and idol immersion, has once again raised concerns about environmental negligence. Despite several days passing since the immersion of Durga idols, remnants of these structures still litter the Howrah river, and the Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) is yet to take any initiative to address this issue.

This ongoing inaction has prompted questions about why the AMC has not initiated the cleaning of the Durga idol structures from the Howrah river water, a recurring problem in previous years. The lack of responsiveness from the concerned corporation has raised alarms about the potential consequences of extreme water pollution. Local residents have begun demanding immediate cleanup efforts to avert a potential disaster.

Critics are now pointing out that those in authority, responsible for controlling pollution and safeguarding the environment, appear to be displaying indifference to the situation, leaving the community increasingly concerned about the river’s well-being. The lack of action from the AMC has ignited discussions on the need for improved post-immersion cleanup procedures to preserve the environmental integrity of the Howrah river in the aftermath of Durga Puja festivities.
