Agartala, November 01: A prominent non-governmental organization (NGO) joined forces with the Rotary Club and Rotaract Club of Dharmanagar to distribute free hearing aids to individuals experiencing hearing impairment or difficulties. The distribution event took place at Ardhendu Bhattacharya Smriti Bhavan in Dharmanagar, showcasing a collective effort to address hearing challenges in the community.
The program’s inaugural function witnessed the presence of esteemed figures, including Assembly Speaker Biswa Bandhu Sen, North Tripura District Magistrate Debapriya Bardhan, Chairman of Dharmanagar Municipal Council Pradyut De Sarkar, philanthropist Shyamal Kanti Nath, and various officials and members of the Rotary and Rotaract Clubs. During his address, Assembly Speaker Biswa Bandhu Sen expressed his gratitude to the NGO for their unwavering commitment to providing essential equipment and resources for individuals with disabilities.
Highlighting the long-standing efforts to establish a Disability Rehabilitation Center (DDRC) in Dharmanagar, Sen emphasized the need for continued perseverance. He shared that while a DDRC center branch has been established near Kalidighi, the rightful ownership of the center with valid documents remains in Kailashahar town of Unakoti district. Sen vowed to persist in his efforts until the DDRC center operates autonomously in Dharmanagar, making it easier for people with disabilities to access essential services.
Sen further acknowledged the challenges faced by individuals residing in areas like Saraspur, Ranirbari, Brajendranagar, and Maheshpur, who encounter difficulties in traveling to Kailashahar to obtain disability certificates. He commended the invaluable contributions of those who support and accompany individuals dealing with disabilities, considering them as blessings akin to the divine.
