Agartala, 20th November 2023: Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Monday said that drama is a mirror of society, reflecting various aspects of human life.

“Drama is an important medium to propel society in the right direction,” said Dr. Saha. He said this while addressing the inaugural ceremony of the state-level Natya Utsav 2023 at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan in Agartala today.

In the state-level Natya Utsav organized by the Information and Cultural Affairs department, 21 teams will participate across the state.

“This initiative will undoubtedly encourage the new generation to engage in practicing drama. Drama is a powerful social medium; it is a mirror of society. We watch and enjoy dramas, and sometimes we say that the earth is the stage where we are all dramatists. Drama reflects society, and it can help in guiding society in a positive direction,” said Dr. Saha.

He suggested that if dramatists perform plays addressing issues like drug abuse, cleanliness, and against the dowry system across the state, it will create awareness and be beneficial for society.

In his speech, Dr. Saha also recalled his college days when he played in a drama that secured the first position.
