Agartala Municipal Corporation to demolish illegal shops for traffic decongestion

Agartala, 2nd March 2024:   In a bid to ease the traffic woes of the city, Agartala Municipal Corporation has decided to demolish some illegal shops on the government road behind Maharani Tulsibati Girls’ HS School.

The decision was taken after Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dipak Majumdar, along with Corporation Commissioner Sailesh Kumar Yadav and other officials, visited various areas of Ward No. 20 on Saturday.

According to Majumdar, there are several shops along the road opposite Tulsivati School that are encroaching on the public space and causing traffic congestion. He said that only two of them have valid papers, while the rest are doing business without any permission.

He said that the illegal shop owners have been notified and asked to vacate the premises. He said that the corporation will arrange alternative locations for them to do business. He said that the road will be widened after the demolition of the shops.

Majumdar said that the corporation is working tirelessly to keep Agartala city free from traffic jams and improve the quality of life of the citizens. He appealed to the public to cooperate with the corporation and follow the traffic rules.
