Agartala, 10th March 2024 :   : Biplab Kumar Deb, a Member of the Rajya Sabha and a candidate for the West Tripura Lok Sabha assembly seat, launched a scathing critique against the CPIM on Sunday, accusing the communist regime in Tripura of engaging in oppressive tactics through extortion.

Speaking at an event in the South District, Deb asserted that extortion, which prevailed during the communist era, has ceased since the BJP assumed power in 2018.

“Under the communist regime, Tripura suffered under the weight of extortion. Presently, extortion is nonexistent in the state. CPIM has failed to undertake any beneficial initiatives for either permanent or temporary employees in the state,” stated Deb.

He emphasized that since the BJP government took charge in Tripura, government employees have received a 25 percent Dearness Allowance/Dearness Relief (DA/DR).

“What contributions did the CPIM government make for the employees? They did nothing. Since the establishment of the BJP government in Tripura, a 25 percent DA/DR has been granted to government employees without any need for protests. Under the previous administration, progress in the state necessitated agitation,” he remarked.

Deb also highlighted that the forceful collection of subscriptions or extortion came to a complete halt after the BJP assumed power in the state.

“Under the previous government, they forcefully collected subscription money from government employees, and this practice ceased in the state after the BJP formed the government,” he added.

In addition to MP Biplab Kumar Deb, the opening ceremony of the conference saw the presence of Minister Shuklacharan Noatia, MLA Mylafru Mog, Vivekananda Vichar Mancha State Leader Tapan Das, BJP South Tripura District President Shankar Roy, and other dignitaries.
