Agartala, 18th May 2024: In preparation for the upcoming Lok Sabha election vote counting, authorities in West Tripura have implemented a three-tier security system at the polling station. Dr. Vishal Kumar, the District Magistrate and Returning Officer for the West Tripura constituency made this announcement during his visit to the counting center at Umakanta Academy in Agartala on Saturday.
Speaking to media persons, Dr Kumar said that the counting of votes for the Lok Sabha elections is scheduled to take place at Agartala’s Umakanta Academy on June 4. Rigorous security measures have been put in place to ensure the integrity of the counting process. These measures include close coordination with various political parties and training sessions for counting agents.
Each political party is allowed to have 150 to 170 counting agents present at the polling station during the vote counting. For the West Tripura Lok Sabha constituency, approximately 1000 counting agents will represent the 9 candidates.
Counting Supervisors, Counting Assessment teams, and Micro Observers have completed their training in all Sub-Divisions. The Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) are securely stored, and additional precautions have been taken to safeguard them. Tight security arrangements have been made at sensitive polling stations to prevent any untoward incidents, he added.
The RO said that the adoption of this three-tier security system aims to ensure transparency, accuracy, and fairness during the vote counting process. Voters and political stakeholders can expect a well-organized and secure counting day.
