Thieves raid home at Churaibari, escape with valuables worth over Rs 2.50 lakhs

Agartala, 29th June 2024:   In a daring overnight robbery, a gang of thieves struck a residence in Kherengjuri, Ward No. 4 of Lakshinagar Village Panchayat under Churaibari police station in North Tripura District. Piyush Nath (35), residing near Assam-Agartala National Highway No. 8, recounted the harrowing incident that took place on Friday night.

At approximately 3:30 a.m., Nath found the main gate of his home open and the interiors ransacked. Startled awake during a routine late-night visit, Nath raised an alarm upon finding his cupboards broken into and belongings scattered. Family members quickly gathered upon hearing his cries for help, prompting an immediate alert to Churaibari police station.

According to Nath, the thieves, estimated to have struck between 1:00 a.m. and 2:30 a.m., forcefully entered his home and made away with significant valuables. The stolen items included two gold pieces, a mangalsutra, three rings, several silver chains, rings, and bracelets, along with a sum of thirty thousand rupees in cash, totaling approximately two and a half lakh rupees in losses.

Local authorities responded promptly upon receiving the report, initiating an investigation into the incident. A case of theft has been registered at Churaibari police station, with Nath urging authorities to apprehend the culprits and recover the stolen goods.

The incident has sparked concern and fear among residents of Kherengjuri, highlighting the urgent need for enhanced security measures in the area.
