Agartala, 16th July 2024: State Forest Minister Animesh Debbarma visited the Horticulture Research Complex at Nagicherra, where he planted a tree and engaged with officials to gain a understanding of the facility’s operations. During his tour, he observed various research activities and participated in a demonstration showcasing the quality of food crops.
Minister Debbarma expressed his admiration for the research complex, stating, “I am overwhelmed by the advancements and potential of this research facility. It is difficult to quantify the benefits for our farmers, but the impact is undeniably significant.”
He emphasized the critical role of the research complex in advancing agriculture and horticulture noting, “This is the only organization in our state poised to drive future progress in these fields. Given its importance, the state will undoubtedly make great strides in agriculture and horticulture.”
In discussions with scientists, Minister Debbarma explored strategies for cultivating food crops in hilly areas and highlighted the need for robust management to economically empower farmers. He urged both the State Government and the Central Government to prioritize funding for the research complex, saying, “To enrich our farmers, we must ensure this facility is well-managed and adequately funded.”
The Minister also lauded State Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath for his contributions to the sector. Accompanied by departmental officials, Minister Debbarma concluded his visit by praising the dedication and efforts of the researchers and scientists at the complex. “Your work here is commendable and vital for the future of our agriculture and horticulture industries,” he said.
