Agartala, 31st July 2024 : In a dramatic shift in voter support, the BJP has seen its vote share soar from 39 percent to an astonishing 72 percent in the Lok Sabha polls, just months after the assembly elections. This unexpected surge has left many questioning the authenticity of the results, including members within the BJP itself.
CPIM Politburo member and former Chief Minister Manik Sarkar addressed these concerns at a condolence meeting for the late Samar Adhya held at Muktadhara Auditorium in the capital city on Wednesday evening. Sarkar did not mince words expressing his skepticism about the legitimacy of the vote. “Is it magic? Even BJP people don’t believe it,” he remarked, highlighting the disbelief and unease within the ruling party.
The event organized by the CPIM state committee began with a tribute to Samar Adhya where attendees placed flowers on his portrait. In his speech, Sarkar pointed to the sudden spike in BJP’s vote share as a sign of the party’s underlying weakness rather than strength. “This is a sign of BJP’s weakness,” he asserted, suggesting that the figures were artificially inflated.
Sarkar painted a bleak picture of BJP’s current standing, stating, “The situation of BJP is not good. Three-four states are voting ahead, but in terms of international and national level, Tripura is pivotal.” He emphasized the need for continued resistance and urged party workers to intensify their efforts. “The movement should be carried forward. The situation will change further,” he encouraged, calling on his supporters to remain steadfast in their struggle.
The former chief minister’s rallying cry underscored his belief that the BJP’s apparent dominance is temporary and fraught with challenges. “The state of BJP is not good,” he reiterated, urging workers to step up their fight for a more genuine and representative political landscape.
