Days after Delhi coaching centres death row, Srinagar administration has launched safety inspections of coaching centres across the City for the well being of students.

The authorities in Srinagar have asked the coaching centre to adhere to the guidelines set forth by the administration to run the coaching centres in the jurisdiction of Srinagar or face action.

On the directions of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat a safety audit of the coaching centres operating in the District has been launched by the dedicated Committees constituted by District Administration undertaking inspection of various coaching institutes in the City.

The Committee teams led by Tehsildars on the directions of the DC acted swiftly and inspected over 50 coaching centres across the city to assess the several key areas of concern viz use of basements for conducting classes, fire safety norms, building by-laws, prevention of overcrowded classrooms, verification of coaching centers operating from residential buildings, and the adequacy of escape routes in buildings.

Giving Tehsil wise details, it was informed that preliminary inspection of 10 coaching centres was conducted in Shalteng Tehsil, 8 in Chanapora Tehsil and 7 coaching institutes in North Tehsil of the District.

Similarly, inspection of 10 coaching centres was conducted in Tehsil South 8 centres in Eidgah Tehsil of the District.

Three Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) aspirants died due to flooding in the basement in central Delhi coaching centre on July 27.

Meanwhile, DC Srinagar has asked the coaching centre operators and owners to adhere to the guidelines set forth for safety and well-being of the Students else face action under law for any violations.
