Journalists organizations protest wearing black badge condemning killing of five scribes in Bangladesh

Agartala, 14th August 2024:  In a tragic turn of events, five journalists were killed and several others injured amidst escalating violence in Bangladesh. In response, seven journalist organizations convened in front of the Agartala Press Club on Wednesday, donning black badges in a solemn protest.

“Journalists are the voice of the public,” stated one protester. “Such incidents are unacceptable in any democratic state.”

The journalists demanded a thorough investigation into the attacks. “A fair investigation is crucial,” emphasized another protester. “Those responsible must be held accountable to prevent future occurrences.”

The protest underscored the critical role of journalists in upholding public interest and the urgent need for their protection in democratic societies.
