Agartala, 19th August 2024:   The festival of Raksha Bandhan, also known as ‘Rakhi Bandhan’ or ‘Rakhi Poornima’, was celebrated with great fervor at the Akhaura border. This festival, which honors the sacred bond between brothers and sisters, holds immense significance as it fosters a sense of unity and brotherhood.

Former Union Minister of State Pratima Bhoumik continued her tradition of celebrating Raksha Bandhan with the Border Security Force (BSF) personnel at the Akhaura border. Since 2007, Bhoumik has been visiting the border guards on this auspicious day to ensure they do not feel away from their families.

Bhoumik tied rakhis on the wrists of BSF jawans and Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) personnel, wishing them long life and prosperity. She also distributed packets of sweets among the soldiers. Bhoumik emphasized the unique and cherished relationship between brothers and sisters, highlighting the importance of maintaining this bond.

The celebration aimed to bring a sense of familial warmth to the soldiers who tirelessly guard the borders, ensuring they feel appreciated and connected on this special day.
