Agartala, 28th September 2024:   Shankaracharya Swami Abhimukteswarananda Saraswati Ji Maharaj arrived in the state on Saturday via a chartered flight to advocate for a nationwide ban on cow slaughter. Addressing reporters at the Jagannath Jew temple premises, he emphasized the religious significance of cows in Sanatan Dharma.

“Cows hold immense importance from a religious perspective for Sanatan Dharmambalis. Cow Mata is revered in our traditional practices,” he stated. “However, it is disheartening to see that cows are being slaughtered. It is imperative for traditionalists to unite and put an end to this practice.”

The Shankaracharya highlighted that the movement to stop cow slaughter predates India’s independence. “This movement has been ongoing even before the independence movement. Sadly, even after 78 years of independence, we have not succeeded in stopping cow slaughter,” he remarked. “Many political parties have come and gone, yet this issue remains unresolved.”

He announced his plans to tour all provinces to promote the ban on cow slaughter and spread his message. “I am traveling across the nation to advocate for this cause and deliver my message to the people,” he said.

On this occasion, he also mentioned the Bharat Yatra initiative, which aims to place a cow flag under the banner to symbolize the demand for recognizing the cow as a mother. “We need a national and central law to stop cow slaughter,” he asserted.
