Four-year-old child falls seriously ill due to wrong medication at Chailengta

Agartala, 4th October 2024: A four-year-old child Dehima Reang fell seriously ill after being administered the wrong medication purchased from Saha Medical Hall at Chailengta Bazar. The incident took place on Friday morning when the child’s family bought the prescribed medicines from the pharmacy. Shortly after taking the medication, the child became ill and was rushed to Chailengta Hospital.

Upon arrival at the hospital, the doctor on duty immediately began treatment. Meanwhile, the child’s family, distressed by the incident, confronted and assaulted an employee of the pharmacy. Tutan Saha, the owner of Saha Medical Hall stated that his staff had mistakenly dispensed two incorrect medications out of three prescribed drugs due to misreading the doctor’s handwriting. Saha was not present at the store at the time of the incident.

Saha reported that the child’s family assaulted his employee following the child’s illness. The incident is currently under investigation. As of now, the child’s condition is stable, according to Tutan Saha.
