Agartala, 30th October 2024:    For the welfare of the Tripura State Rifles (TSR), Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha today has announced a series of decisions, including increasing ration money, dress allowance, and promotion 240 TSR jawans on an ad-hoc basis.

Dr. Saha made this announcement during his visit to the 2nd Battalion TSR Camp at Binan Kobra Para, Mandwai, West Tripura.

While visiting, Dr. Saha also celebrated Diwali with the TSR personnel.

“It feels good to be celebrating Deepawali together. The TSR’s journey began on March 3, 1984, and since then, people have placed their trust in its security and safety. Wherever there is an issue, the TSR is there. Whether it is a law and order situation or during the peak of insurgency when there was a shortage of central armed paramilitary forces, TSR was formed to address these needs. The way TSR works is no less than that of paramilitary forces. TSR operates with heroism and camaraderie,” he said.

Dr. Saha emphasized that Tripura shares an international border of 856 km, and alongside the BSF, TSR forms the second line of defense, followed by the Tripura Police.

“From border safety to internal security, TSR plays a key role. There was a time when people were afraid of visiting the Northeast, but due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, peace now prevails here. TSR played a crucial role in eliminating terrorism. In situations involving law and order, disaster response, VIP security, industrial security, railway stations, check posts, borders, and in the fight against drugs, TSR is working tirelessly,” he stated.

Dr. Saha, who is also the state’s Home Minister, declared several initiatives for TSR personnel, including an increase in ration money from Rs. 1,000 to Rs. 2,000, an increase in dress allowance from Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 12,000, an allocation of Rs. 5 lakh for each TSR battalion to install gymnasiums, an increased honorarium to medical officers serving in TSR battalions to Rs. 60,000, ad-hoc promotions for 240 TSR jawans, and Rs. 5 crore for repair and maintenance of TSR posts and barracks.

The event was attended by DGP Amitabh Ranjan, ADGP G. S. Rao, IGP Carrey Marak, and other officials.
