Agartala, 4th November 2024: In a major drug bust, Tripura Police apprehended one individual and seized Yaba tablets valued at approximately Rs 3 crore late Sunday night in Panisagar, located in the North District of Tripura.
According to officials, the incident took place around 10 PM when a white Maruti Suzuki S-Cross (SUV) with license plate AS 01 BY 0198, en route from Assam toward Panisagar, was stopped by police at a checkpoint in Panisagar. Upon searching the vehicle, officers discovered 750 small packets containing a total of 150,000 Yaba tablets.
The operation was conducted in the presence of the SDPO Panisagar, an Executive Magistrate, and independent witnesses. Police estimate the market value of the seized drugs to be around Rs 3.75 crore.
The driver of the vehicle has been detained, and a case under the NDPS Act is being registered at the Panisagar Police Station, officials confirmed.
