Agartala, 30th November 2024:   Expressing deep concern over the persecution of minorities in Bangladesh, Pradesh BJP spokesperson Nabendu Bhattacharya on Saturday highlighted the dire situation in Chittagong. Bhattacharya emphasized the need for international intervention, suggesting that various organizations are considering approaching the International Court of Justice over the issue.

“Chittagong, which had 97 percent non-Muslim population during the partition, is now witnessing severe persecution of minorities. The current situation is alarming, and there is a pressing need for international attention,” Bhattacharya told media persons addressing a press briefing here on Saturday. He questioned how Chittagong became part of Pakistan and expressed concern over the ongoing atrocities against non-Muslims in the region.

During the press conference, Bhattacharya also extended gratitude to Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha and the cabinet members on behalf of the State BJP for their efforts in filling vacant posts in various government departments and creating need-based positions. “The government’s proactive approach in addressing employment issues is commendable. These initiatives are crucial for the state’s development,” he said.

Bhattacharya highlighted the government’s plans to make the youth of Tripura self-reliant, noting the positive changes since the BJP came to power. “The BJP government’s efforts are attracting people towards our administration. We are committed to empowering the youth and ensuring their self-reliance,” he added.

He also mentioned the success of the Namo Yuva program, which is set to conclude tomorrow. “The response to the Namo Yuva program has been overwhelming. Youths have actively participated, showcasing their enthusiasm and support. The previous government could not organize such a responsive youth program in Agartala,” Bhattacharya remarked.

The press conference highlighted the BJP’s commitment to addressing critical issues, both within the state and beyond its borders. Bhattacharya’s call for international intervention in Chittagong highlights the urgency of protecting minority rights and ensuring justice for those affected by persecution.
