Spin trio of West Indies ensure win over Pak

Date:

A sensational bowling performance by West Indies’ spin trio of Jomel Warrican, Kevin Sinclair, and Gudakesh Motie ensured a 120-run victory for the visitors in the second Test against Pakistan at the Multan Cricket Stadium on Monday, bringing the series to 1-1.

Warrican was the standout performer, claiming figures of 5/27 in Pakistan’s second innings, as the hosts were bowled out for 133 in 44 overs while chasing 254. This marked a dominant display by the West Indies spinners on day three, with Sinclair contributing with 3/61 and Motie taking 2/35.

Pakistan resumed on day three at 76/4 and managed to add only 57 more runs as they lost six wickets in 20 overs. The early breakthroughs set the tone for the West Indies, as Sinclair and Warrican quickly sent nightwatchman Kashif Ali (0) and Saud Shakeel (13) packing.

Pakistan, now at 76/6, saw a brief resistance from Mohammad Rizwan (25) and Salman Ali Agha (15), who put together a 39-run partnership. However, the stand was broken by Warrican, who dismissed Agha leg before.

The final three wickets fell swiftly as Pakistan’s chase ended in disarray. West Indies claimed their fifth Test win on Pakistani soil, with Motie and Warrican sealing the victory.

In the first innings, West Indies had posted 163, and in their second innings, they were bowled out for 244. Pakistan had managed only 154 in their first innings.
