Agartala, 31st January 2025: On the last day of January 2025, the Bishalgarh Municipal Council and Bishalgarh sub-divisional administration conducted joint raids on multiple shops located along Bishalgarh Bypass Road. The raids targeted various grocery stores and hotels, where officials confiscated single-use plastic carry bags.
The operation was led by DCM Prasenjit Bhattacharya of the Bishalgarh SDM Office resulted in fines totaling Rs 2,000 being imposed on two shop owners. Bhattacharjee stated that this is the first warning for shop owners, and legal action will be taken if the use of plastic carry bags continues.
