Two Rohingyas held in Madhupur

Agartala, 2nd February 2025:   In a major security operation, two Rohingya individuals were arrested by Tripura Police in the Jamchoumuhni area under Bishalgarh sub-division.

According to police sources, the arrested individuals have been identified as Md. Rafiq and Umar Farooq, both residents of the Rohingya refugee camp in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh.

“Based on tip off about two suspicious persons, we rushed to the spot and found two persons approaching towards the international border. We have detained them and during preliminary interrogation the duo said that they had reportedly been working as laborers in plastic factories in Delhi and Jammu and Kashmir for an extended period before deciding to return to Bangladesh”, said Police.

He said that they had been residing in Delhi for a long time and were on their way back to Bangladesh after completing their work there.

“We intercepted them while they were en route to their destination,” said the cop.
