Three-day Tripura Literature Festival to begin in Agartala on 21 Feb

Agartala, 19th February 2025:  The Tripura Literature Festival is set to begin on the 21st of February in Agartala. The festival, organized by Uran, will be held at the Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhavan and will coincide with International Mother Language Day. This three-day event, running from February 21st to 23rd, promises to be a grand celebration of literature and culture.

The inauguration ceremony will take place at 5 PM on February 21st, with the Honorable Chief Minister of Tripura, Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha, being invited to open the festival. The Governor of Telangana, Jishnu Dev Varma, and Tripura’s Minister, Sushanta Chowdhury, are also expected to grace the occasion.

The festival will see the participation of poets, writers, scientists, doctors, artists, and intellectuals from India and abroad. Notable attendees include Booker Prize winner Geetanjali Shree, Ramon Magsaysay Award winner Dr. Ravi Kannan, and Padma Shri awardee Rakesh Sharma, India’s first astronaut.

Prominent literary figures such as poet Joy Goswami, singer Swagatalakshmi Dasgupta, and actor-director Anjan Dutt will be present to engage with the audience through their words and performances. The festival will also feature cultural performances, including a show by the famous Bahurupi troupe from Burdwan and a musical presentation by Sejuti Gupta.

Throughout the three days, attendees will have the opportunity to witness a blend of literature and science, with sessions led by Dr. Ravi Kannan, Rakesh Sharma, and various other eminent personalities. The Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhavan and its surroundings will be adorned with art exhibitions, book stalls, and a variety of food stalls, creating a festive atmosphere.

The event is made possible through the generous support of several institutions, including Techno India University Tripura, Shyam Sundar Co. Jewellers, Tripura Skill Development Department, Bamboo Mission, ONGC, SBI, and many others. The organizing voluntary organization, Uraan, expresses its gratitude to all the sponsors and supporters who have contributed to making the Tripura Literature Festival a reality.
